Job Overview
We are on the lookout for an experienced and results-oriented Controller based in Chicago, IL, who is passionate about making a significant impact in the nonprofit sector. Key Responsibilities
?? Act as the outsourced Controller/CFO for various nonprofit clients.
?? Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports to facilitate management and board decision-making.
?? Recommend and drive improvements in accounting processes, internal controls, and compliance practices.
?? Manage essential accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
?? Conduct financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and data visualization to inform strategic planning.
?? Supervise grant management, allocations, and reporting to funders.
?? Prepare for and manage the annual audit process effectively.
?? Provide training and guidance to client staff on financial best practices.
Required Skills
?? Deep commitment to working with nonprofit organizations.
?? Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
?? Familiarity with multiple general ledger (GL) software, particularly QuickBooks, and electronic bill payment systems.
?? Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous.
Qualifications
?? Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
?? 5-7+ years of relevant accounting experience.
?? Experience in a remote or hybrid work environment is beneficial.
?? Prior experience in nonprofit accounting, public accounting, or consulting is advantageous but not mandatory.
?? CPA certification is a plus.

Compensation And Benefits
?? Competitive salary: (90,000 - )120,000 per year (based on a 35-hour workweek).
