About the position

The Senior Social Media Specialist at espnW will lead the development and distribution of content across ESPN's social platforms, focusing on women's sports and expanding the audience of female fans. This role requires a deep understanding of various women's sports, including basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball, and gymnastics, and involves creating engaging content, managing social media strategies, and collaborating with internal teams to enhance the brand's presence. The position demands strong writing skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to journalistic standards while engaging with diverse communities of women fans.

    Responsibilities
  • Ideates, creates and posts content (visual, video, text) optimized for social platforms like Instagram, X, TikTok, Facebook, and Snapchat.

  • Manages content planning for various sports and events, assigning work to peers and social designers.
  • ,
  • Collaborates with internal partners to create compelling social content for a broad audience.
  • ,
  • Edits and approves social posts in real-time for journalistic accuracy, relevance, and tone.

  • Maintains proficiency in social media trends and best practices.

    Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a fast-paced social media environment with content creation responsibilities.
  • ,
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience using video editing software (e.g., Final Cut, Premiere).
  • ,
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience using photo editing software (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign).
  • ,
  • Strong understanding of how to connect with and grow an audience of women's sports fans across all sports.
  • ,
  • Skilled in social media comprehension and execution across multiple platforms including TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, and Snapchat.

  • Excellent news judgment and verbal/written communication skills.

  • Strong understanding of journalistic standards.

  • Ability to work quickly and juggle multiple tasks during a typical workday.
