Software Development Manager, Sponsored Products Targeting and Budgets

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving engineering for Targeting Recommendations. You will define, build and ship solutions that improve Amazon's shoppers' and advertisers' experiences. You will play a pivotal role in managing projects at all stages: inception, design, development, deployment and subsequent improvements. You will tackle challenging problems and coordinate high profile projects across multiple teams to ensure our goals are met. You will be working with scaling Machine Learning Models and use Large Language Models (LLMs) in your pipelines. You will interface across product, engineering and applied science teams within Performance Advertising and across teams such as Amazon Search and UX to deliver state-of-the-art solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
  • Scaling Machine Learning Pipelines and experience with Deep Learning and Machine Learning. Experience with Large Language Models is a plus.
