Investment Banking Associate

Position: The firm is seeking an Associate to join our team at its main office in Pasadena, California (the Firm also has an office in San Francisco). The Spartan Group fosters an entrepreneurial environment that encourages people to take the initiative to continually improve the organization. This will require that the new hire assume high levels of responsibility almost immediately. Associates play an essential role in developing and strengthening our client relationships, participating on our advisory teams, and in structuring and executing a full range of financial transactions. As a dedicated member of our client's transaction team, you will be responsible for managing the workflow from the Analysts, producing information memoranda, buyer lists, management presentations, and extensive quantitative and qualitative analysis.
The new hire will work with senior bankers in the marketing of our services and client development. Projects will provide exposure to several specific industry sectors, including business services, industrials, specialty retail, consumer products, and food & beverage across the country. As a member of The SPLRTLN Group, you will be required to develop industry intelligence and analysis to support this effort, including evaluating industry trends, client strategies, acquisitions, and investment opportunities.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to and management of junior investment bankers at the Firm
- Preparation and involvement in client presentations, including comprehensive industry perspectives and capital structure/M&A presentations
- Preparation of valuation and capital structure financial models
- Aid in the drafting of debt, equity, and M&A offering memorandums
- Assist in general marketing and compliance activities
- Evaluate the capital structure and provide M&A idea generation
- Compose reports to document client interaction, synthesize company information, and track information internally (e.g., client profiles, deal pipelines)
Requirements:
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship;
- Must be an intelligent, driven, and hardworking individual who has demonstrated the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team;
- Strong quantitative and analytic aptitudes;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client relationship management skills;
- Minimum one year of prior investment banking, private equity, or corporate finance experience is required;
- Bachelor's degree is required and an MBA is a plus; and
- This in-office role requires a strong commitment to an investment banking career while being based in the greater Los Angeles area, with no remote or hybrid options available.
