About the position

The Optical Associate, Optician at VSP Vision plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service and fostering customer retention. This part-time position is based in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and is not remote. The primary responsibility of the Optical Associate is to drive profitable store sales by creating a customer care culture and utilizing effective retail sales skills through the Total Customer Experience Model. The associate will develop professional relationships with other associates, hosts, and doctors to enhance the overall customer experience. In this role, the Optical Associate will fill ophthalmic eyeglass prescriptions and fit and adapt lenses and frames. This includes evaluating optical prescriptions in conjunction with the customer's visual requirements, recommending specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames that suit customer needs, and assisting customers in selecting frames while coordinating with optical measurements and prescriptions. The associate will conduct necessary measurements such as bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers using appropriate tools to ensure high quality through accurate measurements, correct pricing, and realistic delivery time quotes. Additionally, the Optical Associate will maximize Managed Vision Care relationships and sales opportunities by effectively administering plans and improving average transactions. The role also involves assisting with the timely implementation of approved marketing programs and ensuring positive and productive host relationships, as measured by patient satisfaction surveys. Other duties may be assigned by the Optical Manager and other associates as needed.

Requirements
? Applicable State licensure or certification by a nationally recognized optician association as an optician (if required by state).

? Ability to sell through use of sales skills and accountability for sales results.

? Experience and results with a retail or customer service establishment.

? Ability to provide enthusiastic and concise communication to meet/exceed customer expectations.

? Success in store merchandising and attention to detail.

? Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a related field.

? Experience with personal computers preferred.
