A Day In The Life
The Senior Data and Analytics Architect will spearhead the strategy, design, and execution of enterprise data platforms, data modeling, analytics, and AI-driven solutions. This role involves overseeing data architecture initiatives, implementing data governance, optimizing both cloud and on-premise data solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to create a high-performance, scalable data and analytics infrastructure. This infrastructure supports business intelligence, advanced analytics, and AI/ML solutions. An ideal candidate should possess a profound understanding of data warehousing, data lake house architecture, data modeling, integration, and cloud-based data platforms, along with exceptional leadership and collaboration skills.
As a Senior Data and Analytics Architect, you will:
Data Architecture & Platform Development:
Design and develop a comprehensive data and analytics architecture across the enterprise, ensuring it meets scalability, security, and reliability standards while aligning with business requirements and technology trends.
Architect and enhance data lakes, data warehouses, and virtualization platforms like Denodo to support data-driven solutions and business intelligence workloads.
Lead the integration of cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Databricks, SAP Datasphere, Power BI, OpenAI) with on-premise systems (SAP BW/4HAHA, SQL, Denodo, Tableau).
Oversee the implementation of data storage solutions (AWS, SQL, NoSQL), optimizing them for performance, cost efficiency, and accessibility.
Data Engineering & Integration:
Define and implement robust data models, pipelines, and integration strategies to meet enterprise-wide analytic and reporting requirements.
Lead designing and implementing ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines utilizing technologies such as Databricks, Apache Spark, and Kafka.
Develop and manage near real-time data pipelines for business operational and transactional data.
Create and maintain efficient API-based data integration processes for seamless connectivity between internal and external systems.
Guide the integration of SAP data platforms with cloud solutions (AWS, Databricks) and Denodo for effective data virtualization.
Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics & AI/ML:
Lead the architecture, modeling, and optimization of real-time analytics dashboards and data visualization solutions.
Encourage the adoption of self-service BI platforms like Tableau and Power BI.
Monitor and enhance the performance of data and analytics systems, ensuring optimal operations.
Drive innovation through AI applications for business insights, anomaly detection, and process optimization, working alongside data science teams to integrate AI/ML models into analytics pipelines.
Data Governance, Security & Compliance:
Establish and maintain metadata management, master data management, data cataloging, and lineage tracking, employing best practices and tools.
Develop and enforce data quality standards, implementing robust monitoring and alerting systems to uphold data integrity and reliability.
Enforce data governance policies, data privacy, and security measures across all platforms.
Technology Evaluation and Implementation:
Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies within the data and analytics realm.
Evaluate and recommend tools, platforms, and technologies for data warehousing, big data, and analytics.
Lead proof-of-concept initiatives for novel technologies.
Leadership & Collaboration:
Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, IT teams, and stakeholders.
Mentor and guide data engineers, architects, and analysts on best practices, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Encourage cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment between data initiatives and business objectives.
What We Need From You:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, MIS, or a related field. Required.
10+ years in data architecture, data modeling, data warehousing, data engineering, and analytics, with at least 5 years in a senior capacity. Required.
5-7 years as a Cloud Data Architect, with experience in end-to-end implementation of cloud data warehouses and on-premise data warehouses like SQL or SAP BW. Required.
Proven track record in leading the technical data strategy, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale cloud enterprise data warehouse platforms supporting analytics and AI on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP. Required.
Expertise in enterprise data modeling, database design, metadata management, and integration with a strong understanding of relational and NoSQL databases. Preferred.
Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS (S3, Redshift, Glue), Databricks, and SAP BTP. Preferred.
Experience with data engineering and integration technologies such as Databricks, PySpark, Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, and Kafka. Preferred.
Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, Scala, R, and PL/SQL, with the ability to perform performance tuning and optimization. Preferred.
Advanced skills in BI tools like Tableau and Power BI, along with experience integrating AI/ML models into data processes. Preferred.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and automation in data pipelines. Preferred.
Experience in data migration from RDBMS to cloud platforms. Preferred.
In-depth knowledge of SAP modules, including CDS views, BW queries, and HANA databases. Preferred.
Hands-on experience with real-time data processing and streaming architecture. Preferred.
Knowledge of version control systems like GIT. Preferred.
A broad understanding of business processes in the auto/distribution industry. Preferred.
Excellent leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Able to analyze and prioritize issues leading to effective solutions in a fast-paced setting.
Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Proficiency in agile project management methodologies and tools.
Skills in translating high-level business and user requirements into detailed functional specifications.
AWS Certified Solution Architect. Preferred.
Databricks Certified Architect. Preferred.
Denodo platform certification at the architect level. Required.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
The physical tasks detailed are representative of those that must be performed by an associate to effectively carry out the job's essential functions. Daily activities include analyzing and interpreting data, communicating, and maintaining a stationary position for a significant portion of the day while accessing and retrieving information from computers and other devices. Associates will also be required to move around the office and corporate campus and may need to lift up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Travel Requirements
This position requires minimal travel, estimated at up to 20% of the time, primarily within the domestic territory.
