About the position

The Fire Cost Analyst, Fiscal Analyst 2 (FA2) position at the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is a full-time, permanent role located in Castle Rock, WA. This position is crucial for supporting the Natural Resource Management work by analyzing costs, preparing cost projections, and generating reports related to wildfire suppression expenses. The role requires a detail-oriented and organized individual who can manage multiple responsibilities effectively while contributing to the agency's financial forecasting efforts.

Responsibilities
?? Process annual interagency cost reimbursement.
,
?? Implement Cost Share Agreements.
,
?? Analyze and Audit financial reports to capture and recover FMAG declared incidents.
,
?? Analyze fire suppression expenditures to ensure accurate cost projections.
,
?? Ensure that all finance records for large fires within Pacific Cascade Region are maintained according to State and Agency policies.

Requirements
?? Four years of professional experience in accounting or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

?? 15 credit hours of college in accounting, auditing, or budgeting.
,
?? Knowledge and experience interpreting and communicating complex fiscal policies and procedures.
,
?? Extensive knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, policies, and laws and practices.
,
?? Experience performing a variety of advanced and complex accounting and financial tasks.
,
?? Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, and advanced applications of financial management-related software programs.
,
?? Experience in preparing financial reports and statements.
,
?? Experience working both independently and as part of a team on assigned tasks.
,
?? Experience to effectively convey ideas and information in writing using language that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the reader.

?? Experience organizing and prioritizing work with inflexible and conflicting deadlines.

Nice-to-haves
?? Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, which includes at least 15 credit hours of college level of accounting, auditing, or budgeting.

?? Finance Qualification in Incident Command System - Preferably INBA, COST, FSC, PROC.
