As a Sr. Software Quality Assurance Engineer, you will join the team of hands-on, passionate and seasoned SQA professionals developing innovative consumer-centric product solutions.

In This Role You Will
• You will work with Development teams and our QA organization to scope out features and understand the customer requirements, then work side-by-side with the team to ensure the quality of our system.
• Work with Software Development Engineers to understand the overall technical architecture and how each feature is implemented. Understand performance impacts over the product.
• Create test plans and test cases
• Automate tests using internal and open source tools & infrastructure
• Review user interfaces for conformity, functionality and performance
• Review product user interface for conformity to design guidelines
• Find, isolate, document, regress, and track bugs through resolution
• Interpret and report testing results, and be a vocal proponent for quality in every phase of the development process

Key job responsibilities

The successful Software Quality Assurance Engineer will be obsessed with customer experience, quality improvement, and challenge the status quo.

In This Role, You Will
• Participate in the full development life cycle, working within broadly defined parameters, including test plan execution and software quality needs.
• Writing and executing test plans, designing and developing test tools, debugging and reporting code bugs and pushing quality upstream.
• Create and execute appropriate quality plans, project plans, test strategies and processes for development activities in concert with business and project management efforts.
• Define test strategy, tools and process for quality assurance of the product and software
• Define, rollout, and enforce best practice processes in the areas of functional, system and regression testing using a combination of manual and automated testing
• Develop test strategies, test plans, and test schedules for new projects and software releases
• Shows creativity and initiative to improve product coverage and effectiveness.
• Familiarity with CI/CD automation frameworks (especially using Python and Java)
• Efficiently execute test cases across all functional and backend areas of our products
• Demonstrated ability to operate within short release cycles
• Technical leader defining the Performance KPI roadmap and product test strategy deliverables
• Mentoring L4/L5 QA team members and be the subject matter expert for knowledge sharing and engineering practices
• Work across team boundaries to evolve best practices, test requirements, influence decisions made by QA organizations

A day in the life

As a Sr. Software Quality Assurance Engineer on this team, you will be deploying your technical acumen and experience in driving the development of maintainable, reliable automation deliverables that would withstand the test of time. You will be working closely with Product Managers, Sr. Engineers, Quality Engineers, Technical Program Managers, and highly motivated peers. You will collaborate with teams across Amazon on the planning and execution of complex and highly-technical projects with high impact and visibility.

About The Team

This role is on a team with a vision to create innovative automotive discovery and shopping experiences on Amazon, providing customers better convenience and more selection. We’re collaborating with other experienced teams at Amazon to define the future of how customers research and shop for cars online.

Basic Qualifications
• 6+ years of quality assurance engineering experience
• 4+ years of delivering test frameworks, test tools, leading the QA projects and initiatives experience
• Knowledge of QA methodology and tools, with demonstrated experience in an QAE role
• Experience in automation testing
• Experience in manual testing

Preferred Qualifications
• 2+ years of UI Automation (preferably on mobile platforms) experience
• Knowledge of at least one modern object-oriented programming language such as C++, Java, Objective C

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $120,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
